Growing Number of Catholics in Politics

Governor Chris Christie, who is a member of my parish when residing in Drumthwacket, is just one of many in the growing number of Catholics in politics.
Recently Matt Rooney in his blog, Save New Jersey, raised to the surface the growing numbers of Catholics in politics, not only in New Jersey but on a national scene.
The general trend is what I find most interesting: Catholics are taking over American government, particularly on the right side of the aisle. Yes, many of these leaders of tomorrow are Hispanic like Marco Rubio. Many more are not. The U.S. Supreme Court is 5-4 Catholic (and on a lot of other things, too). Mitt Romney’s two most prominent challengers for the GOP presidential nomination, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich, are both practicing Catholics
