Catholic Schools - Oh Happy Day!

As I had mentioned in my last blog during Catholic Schools Week, literally the buck stops with all of us.  Meaning the survival of Catholic Schools will require the financial support of the Catholic Community at large.
That is exactly what happened in Philadelphia.  With a number of Catholic High Schools on the chopping block, the community stepped up to the plate.  With a grass roots effort led by developer  J. Brian O’Neill, over $5,000,000 was raised in two weeks, with more to come.  This lead to yesterday’s announcement by Archbishop Charles Chaput that four High Schools have been spared…for now.

While this is all good news…it tells us that these efforts need to be in place, before the local bishop has to threaten closure.
